Degree PreferredHigh School Diploma or equivalentPrior successful experience in transportation or related field.CDL with (S) school bus and (P) passenger endorsements or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.Special Knowledge/Skills:Demonstrate working knowledge of district's transportation operations and procedures.Possess understanding of state laws as they apply to transportation.Possess knowledge and understanding of technology and its use to enhance efficiency and services of the Transportation Department.Possess knowledge of the political theory and ability to apply communication skills to build strong internal and external support for the MISD.Exhibit excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation, and interpersonal skills.Possess knowledge and understanding of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.Exhibit highly effective organizational and consensus building skills.Possess knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of the MISD.Experience:Prior successful experience in transportation or related field.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:CDL with (S) school bus and (P) passenger endorsements or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.Assist in the supervision of all Transportation Personnel.Assist with Staff Development of all employees as needed.Assist with hiring of drivers with Director of Transportation.Assist in meetings and with training on staff development sessions.Involved with bus conduct/discipline referrals concerning proper procedures related to student discipline and provide discipline guidelines for the bus.Administrative presence on accident scene working with all involved including authorities.Manages student eligibility process and reviews state reporting.Take driver input concerning student information riding the bus checking the address verifying through SKYward software if the address is accurate.Complete State reports once accurate numbers are captured to help ensure accurate funding from the state.Investigate bus accidents and complete all state and local accident reports.File student discipline reports with the appropriate campus administrator.Perform other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:All Transportation EmployeesTransportation SecretariesWORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands:Communicating effectively, making multiple decisions and maintaining emotional control under stress.Physical demands/environmental factors:In-district travel.Prolonged and irregular hours.
