CNC Lathe Setup/Operator

Seaboard Manufacturing LLC The Lathe Setup Operator pperates a variety of Lathe and Mill Turn machines for the production of machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) Lathe machine; maintaining quality and safety standards in accordance with established programs, drawings, and procedures, documenting job completions and any necessary records, maintain equipment. Duties & Responsibilities Sets up, operates, and assists/edits programming of the CNC Lathe/Mill to perform machining operations such as facing, turning, boring, threading, drilling, & reaming metal, steel, or aluminum work pieces to specifications. Set up, adjust, and operate the basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations. Designs tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured internally. Makes program adjustments and tooling adjustments as needed to achieve correct specifications. Reviews customer drawings and determines what, if any special tooling is required. Prepares specifications and technical plans. Performs data analysis and validation studies. Reviews project work for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements. Performs general manufacturing tasks as needed to support team including but not limited to: CNC machine loading/unloading, cutting bar stock with saw, Prior Manual or CNC machining is preferred. Maintains specifications by observing machine operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documents actions by scanning/completing Travelers, Quality logs and other forms as needed. Operates CNC Machining Center using controls to adjust feeds and/or speeds in order to achieve maximum operating efficiencies and quality of workmanship. Verifies dimensions of machined parts, components and product using precision measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers, fixed gauges, and dial indicators. Reports defective or inadequate tooling and machine problems to Lead or direct Supervisor. Maintains cleanliness of machine and machining area. May perform regular maintenance of machining centers and/or complete weekly maintenance. Performs all other duties as assigned. Skills: Working knowledge of manufacturing processes. Familiar with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management Systems & proficient working within the guidelines, creation of work instructions, or other documentation related to QMS required. Experience with reading and understanding prints/3D files/Manufacturing codes. Ability to use common inspection measurement tools, Calipers, Micrometers, Gage Blocks, Gage Pins, Bore Gages, Optical Comparator, CMM, Cadillac Gage, Height Gage. Must be able to operate equipment and adhere to procedures/standards. Experience working with aluminum, copper, brass, and steel. Able to consistently meet deadlines required by RFQ demand while working with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Punctual. Knowledge of basic math and general computer knowledge and ERP systems. Demonstrated ability to perform relevant engineering tasks with minimal guidance. Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision. Team player comfortable with sharing information and collaborating with and supporting colleagues in completing large-scale projects. Accepts ownership and is responsible, dependable, and has an exceptional work ethic. Exceptional focus on project follow-through. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and can multi-task and successfully manage the demands of multiple projects and deadlines.
