With offices strategically locatedworldwide, Global Edge is known for the highest level of delivery for our clients andcontractors.Role OverviewThe Shop Fabrication Manager is responsible for directing all activities within the fabricationfacility to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient production of structural steel, piping, modularassemblies, and specialty metalwork. This role requires expertise in fabrication processes, strongleadership skills, and the ability to coordinate schedules, manpower, equipment, and qualityexpectations in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate combines technical fabricationknowledge with strong communication and organizational abilities.Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication Operations & Workflow• Lead daily shop operations, including fabrication planning, scheduling, and productionoutput.• Manage material flow, work orders, cut lists, fabrication drawings, and resourceallocation.• Ensure production meets customer requirements, project specifications, and deliverytimelines.• Drive continuous improvement in throughput, tooling, layout, and shop productivity.Safety, Quality & Compliance• Enforce safety policies and maintain a culture of zero incidents.• Ensure all work complies with engineering drawings, welding codes, and companystandards.• Collaborate with QC to verify weld procedures, inspections, and documentation areaccurate.• Conduct daily safety briefings, shop audits, and follow corrective action.Personnel Management & Leadership• Supervise welders, fitters, fabricators, helpers, and support staff.• Manage hiring, skills assessments, training, and team development.• Coordinate overtime needs, shift planning, and staffing requirements.• Lead with professionalism and maintain strong morale, communication, andaccountability.Operational Coordination & Support• Work directly with Project Management, Engineering, and Procurement to ensurealignment.• Forecast manpower, equipment, and material needs for upcoming workloads.• Support estimating with fabrication hours, shop rates, and technical input.• Maintain equipment, tools, consumables, and shop readiness.Skills & QualificationsExperience & Knowledge• 5–10+ years of fabrication shop experience with increasing leadership responsibility.• Strong knowledge of welding, structural steel, piping, and industrial fabrication practices.• Understanding of AWS, ASME, and related fabrication/welding codes.Core Competencies• Strong leader with the ability to motivate, direct, and mentor crews.• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.• Highly organized with strong planning and follow-through.• Ability to read drawings, interpret fabrication details, and solve problems quickly.Technical Skills• Proficiency with fabrication management software, scheduling tools, and MicrosoftOffice.• Ability to review and interpret blueprints, weld maps, and shop documentation.Ideal Candidate Profile• A decisive and experienced fabrication professional who excels in leading teams,maintaining high quality, and ensuring safe, efficient production in a demanding shopenvironment.Global Edge Group LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
