Major/Essential Functions
Provides hospital-based ophthalmic care and consultation in an academic medical center with Level 1 trauma center designation
Participates in teaching activities, including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds for medical students and/or residents, and continuing medical education
Advances clinical knowledge through scholarly and research efforts
Performs a wide variety of ophthalmologic surgical procedures
Provides on-call coverage, as scheduled
Provides post-discharge care in the outpatient clinic
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Required Qualifications
M.D. / D.O.
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in ophthalmology
Texas Medical License or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications
Board Certification in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology
Strong work ethic and good team player
Experience in teaching medical students and residents
Experience in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
