Systems Engineer

As a Systems Engineer at Vatic, you will be tasked with maintaining, optimizing, and growing the infrastructure that powers our low-latency trading, and research systems. You will work across servers, networking equipment, cloud resources, and other specialized equipment to deliver performance, stability, and determinism. This role is highly visible within the organization and you will have the opportunity to work across the business to help build innovative technology solutions.We employ a team of talented engineers who have been recognized as leaders in our field. We are passionate about hiring the best and brightest, empowering them with the tools and freedom they need to be successful.If you possess the following, we would love to explore what is available for you on our team.Earned or will earn a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM fieldAt least 3 years of hands-on administration experience in a low-latency trading environmentExcellent understanding of the Linux ecosystem and expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux serversExpertise in tuning x86 Linux servers for low latency and deterministic performanceUnderstanding of, and experience with management of high precision clock synchronization technologiesExperience with automating system builds and configuration management toolsA strong understanding of networking concepts and key protocols (Ethernet, IP, and UDP multicast)An automation and standardization mindsetYou will stand out if you have:Expertise with RHEL or downstream derivativesExperience managing large-scale compute clusters and high-performance distributed storage systemsHands on administration with Cisco and Arista network switchesExposure to Google Cloud Platform and its multitude of servicesKnowledge of core office infrastructure – think MDM, identity, data security, firewallsAt Vatic, we're serious about our work—but we also believe in balance, growth, and having fun along the way. The base salary range does not include any other form of compensation, such as any bonus amounts, or any benefits. Factors that may impact the agreed upon base salary within the range for a particular candidate include years of experience, level of education obtained, skill set, and other factors.
