Lockheed Martin Space’s Materials and Processes Engineer role focuses on developing and evaluating innovative technologies for advanced defense systems. The position involves laboratory and manufacturing work, collaboration with cross‑disciplinary teams, and oversight of materials and processes for mission‑critical assets. Responsibilities Select Materials and Processes (M&P) for new designs to support defense and satellite manufacturing. Perform M&P technical engineering assignments, troubleshooting, and innovative solutions. Participate in selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes, prepare technical and progress reports, specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports. Coordinate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement. Qualifications Knowledge of materials and process engineering disciplines including non‑metals, adhesives, bonding, cleaning, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations. Experience and/or field of study in materials and processes. Formal coursework, training or experience in Materials or Processes development, improvement, design, application and production. Eligibility and willingness to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance; US citizenship required. Desired Skills Familiarity with aerospace materials and processes. Understanding of technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements). Experience with non‑conformance and failure analysis disposition. Knowledge of material properties definitions. B.S. in Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred. Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Active or current Top Secret Security clearance. Security Clearance Top Secret. This position requires a government security clearance and US citizenship. Work Schedules Lockheed Martin offers various alternate work schedules; this role requires onsite full‑time work with a standard 40‑hour week or a condensed schedule.
