Substation Project EngineerRemote 6-Month Contract-to-Hire Overtime AvailableAbout the CompanyThis opportunity sits within a well-established power delivery team supporting utility infrastructure projects across the U.S. The group operates in a true EPC environment, delivering substation projects from early engineering through construction and closeout.You’ll be working on a mix of upgrade and new-build substation projects, with real involvement in how projects are scoped, designed, and executed. It’s a good fit for someone who wants to stay technical but also take ownership of project delivery and coordination.ResponsibilitiesSupport and lead substation projects from initial scope through construction and closeout.Coordinate engineering, design, and project activities to keep projects on track.Contribute to electrical and physical design efforts, including relay upgrades, breaker additions, transformer replacements, and equipment installations.Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules in partnership with project managers.Prepare and review technical specifications, material lists, and engineering documentation.Oversee development and QA/QC of design packages, including Issued-for-Construction (IFC) drawings.Interface with clients, utility personnel, vendors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.Support construction activities, site visits, and field coordination as needed.Assist with project closeout, including as-built documentation and final deliverables.Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, designers, and CAD staff.Experience RequiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.5+ years of substation engineering and/or project delivery experience.Experience in a consulting, EPC, or utility environment.Strong understanding of substation systems, design practices, and project workflows.Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and related standards.Experience supporting or leading projects through construction-ready deliverables (IFC).Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively across teams.Strongly PreferredPE license or active progress toward licensure.Experience acting as a Project Engineer or Lead Engineer on substation work.Background in both electrical and physical substation design.Experience with project scheduling, cost tracking, or scope development.Exposure to greenfield and brownfield substation projects.Compensation & Benefits6-month contract-to-hireRemoteOvertime available, weekly payHealth, dental, and vision401(k) with matchPTO and holidays
