You'll be responsible for monitoring and aligning track switch points, inspecting track conditions, and safely coupling and uncoupling railcars. This hands-on role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to operational safety.Key Responsibilities:* Monitor and operate track switches to ensure proper alignment for railcar movement.* Inspect track conditions and switch points to identify any issues affecting safe operation.* Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars as part of train assembly or disassembly.* Replace damaged or broken railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).* Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to ensure coordinated rail movements.* Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).* Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards in a high-traffic rail environment.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:2-3 years of rail experience desiredSwitching or conductor experience preferredValid driver's licenseAbility to always follow safety requirements and practicesReliable, punctual and a strong work ethicAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 75lbsAbility to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcarsMust pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited.
