Security Technician II
Job SummaryThe Security Technician II is responsible for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial security systems including access control, CCTV, and low voltage infrastructure. This role is heavily field focused within active construction environments, performing hands on work such as cable installation, device termination, system programming, and final system verification. The technician ensures all systems are installed cleanly, safely, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.Schedule / Hours ExpectationTypically 7am start40 to 50 hour workweekProject EnvironmentLocal branch work across large scale commercial environmentsCorporate, retail, healthcare, hospital, government, municipality, industrial, place of worshipPrimary Functions of the RoleInstall, configure, and troubleshoot access control systems, CCTV systems, and low voltage infrastructurePull, terminate, dress, and label cabling including 22/4, 20/4, CAT5e, CAT6Install and support cameras, maglocks, strikes, card readers, panels, and NVRsBuild and organize security equipment racks with proper cable managementInstall cable pathways including J hooks and D ringsRead and interpret blueprints to execute installations to specificationConfigure access control systems including credentials, door schedules, and access levelsConfigure CCTV systems including camera setup, recording schedules, and client softwarePerform IP based troubleshooting including addressing and connectivity issuesTest and verify system functionality to ensure devices are fully operationalFollow OSHA safety standards and maintain clean and organized job sitesDay to Day ResponsibilitiesInstall and troubleshoot access control devices, cameras, and low voltage cabling on active job sitesMove between cable pulling, termination, device mounting, and system configurationWork on ladders, lifts, and inside IT rooms to complete installationsCoordinate with site leadership while ensuring all work meets project and safety standardsVerify system performance and bring systems online cleanly and reliablyRequired ExperienceCommercial security installation, 3+ years installing access control systems, CCTV, and related hardwareAccess control configuration, adding credentials, configuring door schedules, troubleshooting door issuesCCTV system setup, installing and configuring IP and analog cameras, NVRs, and client softwareIP networking fundamentals including IP addressing, switches, routers, and port forwardingLow voltage cabling experience including pulling, routing, terminating, and labeling cableBlueprint interpretation for device layout and cable path planningRack build experience including equipment layout and cable organizationConstruction site safety knowledge including OSHA and PPE complianceField troubleshooting across access control, CCTV, and networked systemsProficiency with Microsoft Office and basic system softwarePreferred Technology and Product ExperienceAccess control platforms: Lenel, Software House, AMAG, Brivo, OpenpathCCTV systems: Axis, Hanwha, Avigilon, Bosch, PelcoIntrusion systems: DSC, Client Ademco, BoschCATV and CCTV distribution: Extron, Kramer, AtlonaDoor hardware integration: Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, HIDLow voltage tools: cable testers, certifiers, toners, multimeters, punch down toolsNetwork equipment: switches, PoE devices, IP configurationSoftware tools: Microsoft Office, manufacturer configuration tools such as Lenel OnGuard and Axis Camera ManagerRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED3+ years of commercial security installation experience3+ years of access control installation experience1+ year of IP networking and troubleshooting experienceOSHA 10 preferredScissor lift or boom lift certification preferredAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 poundsAbility to work on ladders, lifts, confined spaces, and remain on feet for full shiftsTools and PPEBasic hand tools including screwdriver, tape measure, snips, pliers, punch down tool, flashlightWork boots, gloves, and tool pouchAdditional low voltage testing and termination tools as neededProject Alignment BackgroundLarge scale commercial physical security environments including new construction and system deployment projects
