Overview Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in technical accounting and reporting. As a Controllership Expert, you'll build long-horizon technical accounting tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls. Expect to build scenarios across:External reporting: financial statements with defined tie-out numbers, consolidations that roll to a specified totalTechnical accounting: ASC 606 / 842 / 805 fact patterns with a documented correct conclusion and citationPolicy and controls: SOX narratives with required control attributes, statutory packages with required fieldsResponsibilitiesDevelop long-horizon technical accounting tasks paired with deterministic rubrics and verifiable ground-truth referencesDesign and assemble scenarios across external reporting, technical accounting, and policy/controlsEnsure tasks have checkable answers; avoid open-ended essays or subjective judgmentsCollaborate with AI labs and controllership stakeholders to align task quality and throughputQualificationsBS or MS in Accounting; 5+ years in controllership, technical accounting, or external reportingCPA strongly preferredExpertise in one or more of the following: ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, consolidations, SEC reporting, SOXComfort reading and producing controllership artifacts: financial statements, technical memos, consolidation workpapers, control narrativesClear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubricsLocated in the United States or CanadaCompensation Compensation $90–$120 / hr depending on domain depth and prior experience.
