2026-2027 Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
Required Qualifications: Missouri Certification in Early Childhood Special EducationThe Special Education Teacher supports instruction by developing individualized plans for special education students that address academics, interpersonal skills, and daily living skills; providing group and individual instruction; supervising students in assigned settings; creating lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines; collaborating with staff and administrators on instructional and classroom needs; and communicating with parents or guardians about programs and student progress.Essential FunctionsAdministers assessments and testing to evaluate student progress and support IEP development.Provides supervised care for medically fragile students, including feeding and personal care needs.Communicates student progress and goals with parents/guardians.Monitors and assesses academic, behavioral, communication, and vocational growth.Collaborates with teachers, staff, families, and service providers to support student success.Instructs students in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills using differentiated strategies.Demonstrates and adapts instructional methods to meet individual learning needs.Supervises and directs paraprofessionals, volunteers, and students as needed.Maintains student records, IEP documentation, and required reports.Manages student behavior to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.Participates in meetings such as IEPs, PLCs, and support planning conferences.Prepares instructional materials, lesson plans, behavior plans, and progress reports.Reports incidents and responds to emergencies in accordance with policies and procedures.Responds to questions and concerns from students, staff, parents, and administrators.Coordinates student schedules with support staff and related service providers.Supervises students in classrooms and other school settings, including field trips and playgrounds.Job Requirements: Job related experience is required.Bachelors degree in job-related area.Missouri State Teaching Certificate-Early Childhood Special EducationCriminal Justice Fingerprint/Background ClearanceLiberty Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and promotes a drug free workplace.
