Billing Supervisor
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Billing Supervisor to join our cardiology practice. You will be responsible for ensuring that revenue cycle milestones—including pre-certifications, prior authorizations, accounts receivable (A/R) management, and payment posting—are executed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in cardiology billing, proven leadership skills, and deep expertise within the Epic EMR ecosystem. Key Responsibilities & DutiesTeam Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the daily performance of the billing staff; assist the Billing Manager with onboarding and continuous training. Workflow Management: Ensure timely and accurate execution of pre-certifications and prior authorizations for complex cardiology procedures (e.g., cardiac catheterizations, echoes, stress tests). Revenue Cycle Oversight: Monitor accounts receivable (A/R) aging reports, identify bottlenecks, and drive timely resolutions on denials and outstanding claims. Payment & Charge Posting: Audit and ensure that all patient and insurance payments, adjustments, and charges are accurately posted within established deadlines. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Stay updated on current cardiology-specific coding guidelines (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and ensure the team adheres to HIPAA regulations and internal practice policies. Problem Escalation: Act as the primary point of contact for complex billing discrepancies, difficult patient inquiries, and insurance appeals. Reporting: Assist the Billing Manager and CFO in compiling weekly and monthly performance metrics to track revenue cycle efficiency. Required QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory or team-lead experience in a medical billing environment. EMR Expertise: Must have hands-on proficiency with Epic EMR software (experience with Epic's Resolute module is highly preferred). Cardiology Knowledge: Strong familiarity with cardiology terminology, diagnostic codes, and authorization workflows for cardiovascular procedures. Skills: Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and analytical skills, with a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
