IT / Helpdesk / Networking Intern
Location: Ironwood, MIDepartment: Information TechnologyReports To: Director of ITPosition OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to support our internal helpdesk, network infrastructure, and business systems. This role provides hands-on experience in a real-world IT environment, working with end-user support, Microsoft 365 administration, networking, ERP systems, and industrial/office printing systems.This is an excellent opportunity for a student or early-career professional looking to build practical IT skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesHelpdesk & End-User SupportRespond to and resolve support tickets using FreshdeskTroubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues for end usersAssist with workstation setup, imaging, and deploymentSupport scanners, mobile devices, and other peripheralsDocument issues, solutions, and procedures clearlyMicrosoft 365 AdministrationAssist with user account setup, password resets, and permissionsSupport Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint usageHelp enforce security policies such as MFA and access controlsTroubleshoot login, email, and collaboration issuesNetworking & InfrastructureAssist with basic network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, VLANs, connectivity)Help maintain and organize network documentationSupport configuration and monitoring of switches, access points, and firewallsAssist with device inventory and asset trackingPrinter & Labeling Systems SupportTroubleshoot networked office printers, print servers, and queue issuesAssist with installation and configuration of printer drivers across multiple systemsSupport thermal label printers used in production and inventory environmentsHelp diagnose print quality issues, formatting problems, and communication errorsAssist with barcode labeling systems and ensure proper integration with business workflowsMaintain documentation for printer setups, drivers, and configurationsERP System Support (General)Assist users with system access and basic troubleshootingHelp maintain data accuracy and user permissionsSupport reporting and data entry processesDocument workflows and assist with system improvementsWork with IT staff to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutionsQualificationsRequired:Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fieldBasic understanding of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows preferred)Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learnGood communication and customer service skillsPreferred (but not required):Familiarity with helpdesk/ticketing systems (e.g., Freshdesk)Exposure to Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi concepts)Experience with Active Directory or user account managementExposure to printer troubleshooting or hardware supportAny programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar) is a plusWhat You’ll GainHands-on experience with enterprise IT systems and toolsExposure to real-world networking and infrastructureExperience supporting business-critical systems, including ERP platformsPractical experience with office and industrial printing systemsOpportunity to work closely with IT leadership and gain mentorshipSkills directly applicable to full-time IT, helpdesk, or systems rolesWork EnvironmentOn-site position in a manufacturing and office settingInteraction with both office staff and production personnelFast-paced environment with a mix of routine support and problem-solving tasksIdeal CandidateCurious and proactive—asks questions and seeks to understand root causesOrganized and detail-orientedComfortable interacting with non-technical usersInterested in growing into a full-time IT or systems roleThis is a paid internship: $15.00/HR
