Position SummaryJOB SUMMARY: This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of faculty, staff, students, and visitors by maintaining a secure and orderly environment. Police Officer duties include crime prevention and enforcement, conducting criminal investigations, overseeing traffic and parking operations, coordinating emergency and disaster response efforts, and providing a broad range of public safety services to the Gadsden State community.Direct Supervisory Responsibility: NOEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide foot and vehicular patrol of the campusRespond to and investigate all incidents on campus including but not limited to motor vehicle accidents or criminal or college violationsConduct complex misdemeanor and or felony investigations including but not limited to interviewingvictims, suspects and offenders, preparing photo lineups, collecting evidence and preparing case filesProvide security to college community, as requested, including but not limited to escorting personnel to vehicles late at night or acting as a witness at meetings involving irate personnel or studentsEnforce criminal and traffic laws, making arrests, and issuing summons as requiredSecure college buildingsIssue tickets for parking violationsComplete detailed incident reportsMonitor authorized student activities for adherence to college policiesLock and unlock offices and buildings as requestedEnsure appropriate transport of bank deposits for college business officeEscort dignitaries and provide executive securityDetect and report hazardous conditions including but not limited to potholes, light outages, obstructions, etcComplete twelve hours of continuing education annually as required by APOST and other training as designated by the Chief of PoliceLend security support to all campuses as requestedAssist as needed with issuing parking decals and student IDsCollect and maintain lost and found propertyAppear in court and testify as requiredAssist and participate in emergency training, drills and exercisesMonitor security camerasOther duties as assigned by the Chief of PoliceNote: The intent of this description is to provide a representative summary of the essential functions that will be required of positions given this title and should not be construed as a declaration of specific duties and responsibilities of any position.
