This role requires a blend of pedagogical expertise, musical proficiency, and administrative management to foster student growth and maintain a high-performing music program.Overview: The primary goal is to provide students with a comprehensive music education that includes technical proficiency, music theory, and performance experience. This position involves directing various groups such as concert bands, and marching bands while managing the logistics of the music department.Instructional Leadership: Planning and delivering daily lessons that cover music theory, instrumental techniques, and repertoire for multiple skill levels.Ensemble Direction: Leading rehearsals and conducting performancesEvent Coordination: Organizing and supervising student participation in extracurricular activities. such as football games, parades, festivals, and competitions.Program Administration: Managing budgets, overseeing fundraising activities (often with Band Booster groups), and maintaining an accurate inventory of instruments and uniforms.Qualifications:Education: A Bachelor's degree in music education or a related field (master's degree preferred.Certification: A valid Pennsylvania certification in Music K-12.Musical Expertise: Proficiency in conducting and the ability to play and teach various wind, brass, and percussion instruments.Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management abilities to handle large, dynamic groups of students.Experience: Previous experience as a Band Director and music teacher.Working ConditionsThis role often requires irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for rehearsals, concerts, and travel.
