Financial Aid Officer

Job SummaryThe Financial Aid Officer (FAO) advises prospective and current students regarding financial aid options, including the availability of Title IV Programs. In this process, the FAO ensures that the customer has access to all relevant information, guidelines, and eligibility requirements, and supports the customer in applying for available financial aid. The FAO, working within company processes, ensures that students are packaged on time and within compliance standards. The FAO will work directly with the Campus President to develop improvements to the overall quality and environment of the Financial Aid Department.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise incoming, continuing, and re-entry students on the availability of Title IV funds and resources to cover the investment in their educational cost.Answer student questions regarding completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and Direct Loan Entrance/Exit CounselingComplete verification on all applications selected by the Department of EducationResolve conflicting information that is identified between financial aid documents and other documents contained in the student's fileConduct financial aid estimates for students who are interested in enrollmentTimely submission of student files for Campus Compliance Specialist review, maintaining a low error rateEffectively communicate with admissions department personnel to ensure future enrollments have obtained appropriate documentation for packagingEnsure files are uploaded into the CampusVue operating systemProvide updates to the Campus President on students who have not submitted documentation or required paperwork to receive Title IV fundingAdvise students, during the packaging process, of Institutional Payment Plans (IPP) and facility completion of the IPP process where appropriate.Effectively use and track activities in CampusVueOther duties as assigned Experience and Education RequiredHigh School Diploma (GED acceptable) from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education1 year of experience in a customer service-related fieldAbility to multitask while maintaining organizationExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to maintain confidentialityMust not be in default on any federal student loan Experience and Education PreferredAssociate's degree or higher from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education1 year of prior experience in Financial AidExperience with CampusVuePhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
