Req. NumberSWI-7592Job DescriptionScope of Job:Perform machinist duties associated with production of components for pistols, revolvers and rifles. Operate computer numerical controlled machines to fabricate parts. Machinists are expected to have achieved advanced skills and be able to perform complex production work in the following areas: set-up, tech support, and advanced CNC machining.Compensation:$31.55 + Shift DifferentialEssential Responsibilities:Performing all general/intermediate machinist duties and responsibilitiesSetting-up CNC equipmentLoading feed mechanismVerifying settings and adjusting CNC accordinglyMaintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulationsMaintaining equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirementsManaging a co-worker (most positions have a loader/unloader as a helper)Ability to manage a normal work load operating 6-10 CNC machinesDocumenting actions by completing production and quality logsWorking with all floor supervisors and team leaders, making every effort to maintain production schedules, and limiting waste, scrap, re-works or turn backsWorking with Quality Control personnel to maintain the highest quality productRegular attendance (as defined by our policies) is requiredNOTE: This list presents only the principal duties of the position and is not intended to be comprehensive. Competencies of the ideal candidateEducation and Experience:High School/GED preferredAssociate's degree and/or equivalent experience in related discipline preferred1-3 years related experience is preferred (typically a CNC certification requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training)Competencies and Skills:Knowledge of CNC controls (ie: Fanuc, Yaznac, Mazak, Okuma), with experience operating Mazak, Mori Seiki, Matsuura, Okuma, Haas, Tsugami (Swiss Turn), and Citizen Screw machinesExperience running CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines with 4 and 5 axes, and lathes with 7 and 9 axesExperience with off-line tool setter (Parlec helpful)Ability to interpret CMM reports and adjust CNC accordinglyKnowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) and the ability to adjust machines to a chartMust have math skills equal to that used in a machining environmentMust have and demonstrate excellent conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation skills, supply management, tooling, coordination, inventory control, attention to detail, and judgmentMust have working command of the English languageMust be able to read, write and interpret the English languageMust be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (basic verbal instructions, simple written memos and instructions)Basic computer skills preferredCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:CNC certification preferredPhysical Demands:Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, push, pull, carry, reach, twistMust be able to lift up to 50 poundsNOTE: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Work Environment:Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations.
