Bilingual Youth Service Specialist Waterbury, CT. 06702 Full-Time 35 hours/ week - Salary ABOUT THE POSITION: The Service Specialist has two primary roles: one as Resource Specialist connecting with service providers and maintaining a list of all community resources from each town in the catchment area and the second as Intervention Specialist facilitating cognitive-behavioral and Life Skills groups to youth. The Service Specialist works closely with the Family Advocate in helping to identify what is available in the youth’s and family’s community in order to make a meaningful connection. Research and maintain a list of all community resources from each town within the catchment area (this includes grassroots agencies, prosocial connections, mental or medical health service, etc.) Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with community providers Maintains an organized log of time in the community and connections made Serves as a resource to Juvenile Probation Officers who may be seeking information about resources in a specific community Facilitates all cognitive-behavioral group interventions focused on addressing the risk relevant factors identified by the risk/needs assessment. Group such as: Girls Circle The Council for Boys and Young Men MET/CBT/FSN-12 Aggression Replacement Training (ART) Seeking Safety Adolescent Facilitates the Life Skills Group which provides skills in order to cope with the stresses and challenges of everyday life Ability to communicate, cooperate and serve people from all cultural identities with respect, professionalism, integrity and fairness in a manner that recognizes the individuality of each person Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance program effectiveness Regular and consistent attendance Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor WORK SCHEDULE & RATE OF PAY: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00am - 7:00pm Salary paying position - $45,320 per year MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Required to speak Spanish and English to communicate with clients and their families Required to have Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Community Organizing, Human Services, Sociology OR at least 3 years’ experience and knowledge working with juvenile justice system and/or working with communities Effective engagement skills Communication Proficiency Collaboration Skills FULL-TIME BENEFITS: At CJR, we pride ourselves on creating a compassionate, culturally responsive work environment and offering a comprehensive benefits package that encourages and supports a healthy work/life balance.
