At Central Maine Healthcare our team members are committed to providing exceptional care and experiences for our community and for each other every day.The Perioperative Registered Nurse is part of an excellent team that encompasses all three phases of surgery (the pre-, intra- and post- operative stages) and provides, manages, teaches, and studies the care of patients undergoing surgery or other procedures.No prior surgical nursing experience required** Come join our fun, fast paced, energetic team.Essential DutiesEstablishes an environment of safety for the surgical patient.Assesses, diagnoses, implements, and evaluates treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability for the surgical patient.Demonstrates knowledge regarding the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other procedure, including participation of patients in their recovery.Supports patient rights and ethics by delivering consistent, competent, and ethical care within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support of the patient's value system.Demonstrates knowledge of the health system environment and administrative issues that impact job performance, patient safety, and ethical considerations.Ensure that all physician orders are carried out appropriately and timelyGather and ensure that proper supplies and equipment are available in the OR and for the operationAssists and passes medical instrument or other objects to surgeon as needed during operationObtains concurrent vital signs to detect deviations from expected normal values and assesses conditionSupports patient rights and ethics by delivering consistent, competent, and ethical care within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support of the patient's value systemConsistently communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient to assure they understand all procedures and feel as comfortable as possibleMaintains consistent and accurate patient care documentation.Education And ExperienceRegistered Nurse degree from an accredited school of nursingActive State of Maine Nursing license or eligible for licensureKnowledge of nursing in an ambulatory surgery center setting with emphasis on surgical risk factors, patient pre-intra-and post-operative learning needs preferred.Orthopedic nursing experience helpfulCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required; PALS certification required within 6 months and no later than one year from date of hire.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staffSkill in time management, prioritizing and medical care coordinationAbility to organize and accomplish tasks, and have the flexibility to meet changing demands on daily basisAbility to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with othersAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to project and maintain a professional imageAbility to work independently and excel as part of a teamExcellent customer service skillsProficient computer skillsPrimary ResponsibilitiesConsistently performs hand hygiene practices for the prevention of infectionAssume duties within or out of the sterile field as assignedDemonstrates professionalism at all timesResponsible for maintaining licensure and relevant certifications;
