This individual will transition their knowledge into actionable standard operating procedures and serve as a critical mentor for the next generation of mission technical staff.ResponsibilitiesOperational Authority: Develop all courses of action to be delivered to the customer by the Technical Director. This will cover all missions, particularly during high-risk cable lay, burial, and repair operations in challenging geopolitical or environmental zones. Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement proprietary advanced risk assessment models based on decades of operational data, minimizing downtime, cable damage, and vessel-related liabilities. Mission Readiness: Conduct Mission Readiness Reviews (MRRs) for submarine cable installation and repair operations to verify technical readiness, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and operational alignment prior to execution. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all missions adhere to complex international marine law, territorial waters regulations, and environmental protection mandates. Post-Mortem Analysis: Lead comprehensive post-mission analysis and root cause investigations for operational incidents, translating findings into proactive policy and procedural updates. QualificationsResponsibilitiesExperience: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience within the submarine telecommunications cable industry, covering both installation and maintenance phases. Field Competence: Extensive experience as an Engineer In Charge, offshore supervisor mission coordinator, offshore supervisor, or equivalent role for at least 10 major intercontinental cable projects. Technical Expertise: Deep, verifiable knowledge of cable designs (SL and Legacy), repeaters, PFE principles, submerged equipment handling (plows, ROVs), and marine vessel operations. Must be familiar with undersea cable splicing and testing. Advanced understanding of Makai Lay, Makai Plan Pro, and 4D Nav software.Certifications: Relevant marine or cable installation certifications (e.g., Offshore Survival, various rigging and lifting competencies). Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, crisis management, communication, and diplomatic skills necessary to manage high-pressure situations and multi-cultural teams globally.
