Manager of Transportation

Position Responsibilities may include: A transportation manager serves as a contact point for all workers within a particular area.Investigates, verifies and resolves customer or shipper complaints.Oversee daily outbound transportation operations to ensure service and cost targets are met.Negotiate and manage contracts with LTL, TL, and parcel carriers to optimize performance and spend.Develop and manage the transportation budget, identifying continuous cost reduction opportunities.Partner with planning and customer service teams to align shipment schedules with customer requirements.Utilize TMS, YMS, and WMS platforms to track shipments, optimize routing, and manage documentation.Lead, coach, and develop transportation team members to drive operational excellence.Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, cost, damage, and carrier performance.Responsible for weekly and monthly reports required by the controller.Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.Nature & Scope:Ensures work is aligned with leaderships' expectations, goals, and visionAccountable for implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for short-term resultsDecisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from leadershipWorks on difficult to moderately complex issues and projectsProvides guidance and training to subordinatesHas authority to hire, recommend pay, establish performance and recommend for terminationLevel of signing authority established by company policy/guidelinesCompetency:Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Effective communication and negotiation skills.Results oriented mindset with a focus on service and cost optimization.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum of five years of transportation or logistics experienceProficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and advanced Microsoft ExcelWMS experience preferredDemonstrated leadership experience with a strong focus on team development and accountabilityWorking knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation complianceStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointStrong geographic knowledgeDemonstrated sound judgment, strong work ethic, and high integrityPhysical Requirements / Work Environment:This role operates in a remote work environment, with an expectation of on-site presence at least one day per week. Additional on-site engagement may be requested for meetings, projects, or business needs, as directed by the VP. Work arrangements are subject to change based on evolving company requirements and may transition to a fully on-site role if needed.Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
