Maintenance Technician

Perform general maintenance of DSNWK properties toensure an attractive and safe environment for staff and personsserved.*Essential Functions*Perform a preventative maintenance schedule, asassigned, for developmental centers, residential locations, andoffice areas and check facilities and equipment for potentialproblems.Perform general maintenance ofDSNWK properties as assigned.Estimatessupplies and time needed for each job. Purchase requiredbuilding/equipment supplies in a cost effective manner.Builds and/or maintains specialized equipment foruse of persons served, as needed (Assistive Technology).Perform small welding and/or metal fabricationjobs.Paints existing as well as new work.Works with staff to insure as little interruption to staff andpersons served as possible.Troubleshootsand repairs existing electrical wiring and/or installs newcircuits.Performs plumbing work such as butnot limited to: installing new water/sewer lines (remodeling),repairs/replaces old lines, resets toilets, replaces faucets, opentoilets, drains, and sewer lines.Performsgeneral carpentry, repairs existing rooms/walls, constructs walls,remodels, finishes and replaces doors and windows.Repairs sheetrock and tile walls. Installs andfinishes new drywall.Installs small areasof flooring, works with contractors in preparing areas for largerinstallations.In locations having anunderground lawn sprinkler system, repair sprinkler lines andheads.Troubleshoot appliance problemsbefore calling a repairman.Instructs DSNWKstaff on how to do minor maintenance.Makesappropriate purchases of supplies and small tools. Maintainaccountability of DSNWK property.Review andtrack work orders daily, keep current records of work completedusing an iPad or similar device. Turn in paperwork and receipts toFacilities Services Manager weekly.KeepFacilities Services Manager informed of facility conditions,potential problems, work completed and work pending.All other duties as assigned.*Job Specifications**Education* - HighSchool diploma or equivalent preferred.*Experience *- Five years experience with general maintenancepreferred.*Extent of physical effortrequired* - Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climb aladder, twist, stoop, and do repetitive movements.
