Structural Engineer
Job Description The Structural Engineer position requires 5-7 years heavy industrial/power plant experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Responsibilities Provide structural engineering services and field support, perform preparation of designs and calculations, conduct site walk downs of construction sites, develop cost estimates and material takeoffs, provide schedule and staffing input for projects, and produce and check structural steel design calculations and drawings.
Skillsets and expertise include detailed knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies, substantial structural steel connection design experience, proficiency with structural codes and standards, extensive knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components, and strong computer skills.
Proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD.Pro and MathCAD.
Proficiency with OSHA regulations, able to coordinate and manage multiple small to mid-sized, single or multi-discipline projects.
Able to perform structural inspections and provide written reports.
Strong problem solving and decision making abilities, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
Professional Engineering registration is a plus but not required.
Working knowledge with ANSYS design experience in transmission structures is a plus, but not required.
Education Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering.
