Shear, Break and Roll Assistant

Job TitleGenerally functions as an assistant to the lead man shear, brake, roll. In the lead man's absence must be able to perform the functions of the lead man under the guidance of the shop supervisor. Must be able to work independently as an operator with or without a helper.Must have the knowledge to operate shop equipment listed below:Standard ShearCincinnati ShearStandard Break PressVerson Break PressBertsch 12" RollBertsch 9" RollWysong 4' RollLiberty NibblerBeatty PunchHoist (In the Shear Dept.)5-Ton CraneBush Pipe MachinePeerless SawDo-All SawJob Duties:1. Set-up, operate of shear, brake, and rolls on a variety of shearing, forming, punching, and related operations.2. Set-up of dies, shim dies, adjust ram stroke on brake for varying thickness of metal.3. Set-up, operate adjustments of pinch rolls as required to obtain required finished shapes, including tapered items.4. Maintain proper and orderly storage of sheets and plate remnant. Arrange for collection of scrap remnants. (Try to minimize scrap).5. Make ordinary layouts and use templates as required. Figures bend allowances.6. Set-up, operate Peerless saw, Do-All band saw, in cutting of pipe, shafting, flat bar, etc. to length and to maintain proper and orderly storage of cut remnants.7. Set-up, operate bushed pipe machine in drilling of the plug holes, mounting and welding of bushings both in mild and stainless steel.8. Other duties, as assigned by your supervisor.Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $18.00 - $22.00 Per Hour
