Summary:
With a high degree of privacy, security, and professionalism, provide necessary technical services in a consistent and timely manner to both clients and vendors. Affirm and vigorously initiate personal engagement with Company’s Core Values in relationships with other staff members, clients, and vendors. The purpose of this role is to configure and support network equipment, policies, and procedures and to assist the Service Manager in the design and creation of technological solutions that equip our staff to deliver our services effectively and efficiently, based on current standards, resulting in highly satisfied clients.
Network Engineer (Level 3) staff are strong in all the most common and popular networking technologies as well as some of the more mature ones. In addition to strong technical aptitudes, backed by at least 5 years of in the trenches experience, this person is a good communicator and a person who can manage well when the client is in a pickle and really needs strong guidance, while following and maintaining Petra standards. The pace and demands in this environment are usually much greater than an "in-house" position. This person should be prompt and/or know the importance of communicating ETAs to clients. This person should be skillful at pre-project/work-briefings with each client on each project. This person should then be able to execute with a high degree of success in integrating and/or solving problems in environments rich in Windows Desktop/Server, wireless access points, switches, VPN's, firewalls, backup systems, Linux, Unix, and other infrastructure components. The more truly capable this person is in all these areas, the higher the utility value.
Summary of essential job functions:
Works independently to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed company routines and standard practices

Oversees the day-to-day operations of all back-end client support systems
Facilitates ongoing communication between clients and staff, keeping all parties informed as appropriate relating to client support and client projects
Touches base with techs daily for any issues that need highlighted, noted or priority attention
Anticipate when possible and notify appropriate staff when extraordinary systems events or requirements occur
Provide Advanced Technical Support for other team members
Rapidly and efficiently perform advanced diagnostic and remediation as needed
Ensure all applicable company systems are properly configured
Delegate advanced technical support issues to appropriate subject matter experts
Perform and/or delegate and oversee engineering, configuration and maintenance of servers, backup systems, and network equipment as assigned by the Service Manager
Oversee projects (or portions of projects) assigned by Service Manager including: (a) project planning, implementation, and management; (b) prioritizing, assigning, performing and following up on projects/tasks; (c) ensuring assigned tasks are being completed in a timely and efficient manner; (d) ensuring installation of all company supplied solutions are scheduled and well communicated with staff and clients
Creating and maintaining quality documentation for all solutions and standards
Research, test, and develop tools and procedures for deployment, maintenance, and support of all company solutions and sees documentation as a must have; not an after thought
Communicate with the Service Manager regarding all aspects of the technology systems team and provide continuous feedback to improve our technology systems and services
Interface with clients respectfully and with kindness
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IT industry trends and technology that may affect operations or customer expectations
On-going self-training to preserve professional viability is a must
Regularly attend technical staff meetings, being prepared to discuss client issues, project status and scheduling concerns

Understand processes in Petra’s ticketing system by completing assigned training materials and blueprints provided.
Responsible for entering time and expenses in Petra’s ticketing system as they occur
Monthly utilization should be at least 90% of a typical month

Other Details:
This is a full-time job, exempt, salary position (core customer service time is Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.) – Additional time as needed. After-hours on-call rotation shared with other technicians
Compensation: Based on skills and experience, with annual profit-sharing bonus potential.
