Max USD $150,000.00/Yr.Position OverviewSCOPE OF ROLE:The Support Services functions at S:US are carried out by a team of professionals with differing backgrounds who share deeply in the S:US mission. We provide resources and support to the program departments to collectively pursue that mission. Support Services is a collegial, supportive and dynamic culture that continuously seeks to improve. We are motivated to accomplish our individual and collective tasks by the belief that we can help transform the lives of people we serve thereby righting societal imbalances.The Director of Security is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and oversight of all security operations across a large portfolio of program locations throughout New York City. This role ensures the safety and security of persons served, staff, and visitors while supporting a trauma-informed, service-oriented environment. The Director of Security will implement best practices in security management, ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations, and work collaboratively with program, real estate, facilities, and IT to promote a safe and respectful community.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership & StrategyDevelop and implement a comprehensive, organization-wide security strategy, including a security work planEstablish and oversee security‑related policies, procedures, post orders, and emergency protocols that balance safety, client rights, and a trauma‑informed approach, in coordination with Compliance and LegalAssess, recommend, and support governance of physical security technologies including CCTV, access control, and related systems in collaboration with IT and Facilities, ensuring consistency, data integrity, and appropriate use across program sitesProvide leadership and serve as the primary security advisor to executive leadership and program staffDevelop and maintain security metrics, dashboards, and executive level reports to support leadership oversightOperations ManagementOversee daily security operations across all program sitesConduct site visits and assessments 2-3 times per week to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvementsLiaise with program staff and third party security vendors to address security and safety related issuesManage relationships with third-party security vendors, including regular meetings with account reps to ensure delivery of quality servicesIn collaboration with the legal department, review and negotiate all third-party security vendor contracts and ensure contractual complianceResponsible for drafting RFPs and overseeing bidding process for all third-party security vendorsReview and approve all third-party security vendor invoicesProvide security planning and readiness support for new program openings, program transitions, and site expansions, including risk assessments and vendor alignmentSafety Incident Management and Risk ManagementDraft site visit reports, assessments and follow-up protocols for quality improvement purposesAnalyze security‑related incident data to identify trends and preventive strategies, and provide subject matter expertise, documentation, and reporting to support governance and oversight of security operations and risk mitigation. Respond to critical incidents and coordinate crisis management effortsAttend internal S:US Incident Review Committee and Workplace Violence Committee meetings to provide guidance as to security best practicesTraining & DevelopmentDesign and implement security training programs for program staff and third- party security staffAttend security related trainings and webinars to ensure security best practices at S:USPartner with program staff to promote safety awarenessCollaboration & Community RelationsBuild strong relationships with NYPD, community stakeholders, and local precinctsCollaborate with internal departments including program, real estate, facilities, and ITSupport a culture of respect, equity, and inclusion in all security practicesQualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree required 8+ years of comparable experience with at least 3-5 years of managerial experience in directing security operations of a similar sized organization or companyPreferred Qualifications & SkillsMaster’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related fieldMilitary or law enforcement experienceExperience in supportive housing, shelters, healthcare, or social servicesPreferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications Familiar with Yardi or similar industry-based databaseKnowledge of multiple CCTV systems and access control systemsExemplary customer service skills Must display ability to complete tasks/projects on-time Strong analytical skillsStrong attention to detailKnowledge of de-escalation and problem solvingS:US IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERJoin a team of employees who cares about the wellbeing of others.
