In this role, the engineer supports mechanical projects and product development for pressure-containing and load-bearing equipment, including annular and ram blowout preventers, drilling risers, connectors, and associated equipment, following applicable design and development processes to meet customer requirements and expectations.Job ResponsibilitiesExecute, with guidance, the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and project requirements under oversight from more senior engineersCollaborate with analysis, materials, and other global engineering groups supporting the assigned projectProvide technical leadership and engineering support cross-functionally to supply chain, manufacturing and test/assemblyFormulate and implement plans to meet technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments of assigned components and systemsParticipate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues through root-cause analysis or nonconformance analysis where appropriateParticipate in technical and program reviewsEnsure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks, consistent with engineering policies and proceduresDesign products in accordance with industry standards (including API, ASME, BSSE)Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience)Strong technical aptitude for applying mechanical engineering skills to solve open-ended technical problemsEffective presentation and technical communication skills with both internal and external audiencesDesired CharacteristicsProduct knowledge of Oil & Gas rigs, both onshore and offshoreExperience designing pressure containing or load-bearing oil and gas equipment such as land or subsea BOPs, drilling risers, connectors, diverters, hydraulic control systems or similar equipmentBasic understanding of general material types, coating types, manufacturing techniques, and non-destructive examination methodsKnowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ANSI Y14.5M (GD&T)Working knowledge of MS Office applications, MathCad, AutoCAD, and 3D parametric CAD toolsDesire to grow in technical capabilities and take on complex challengesAbility to maintain project schedule while delivering expected resultsAbility to work in a team environment on short- or long-term projectsAdditional InformationMust be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa statusNo relocation assistance providedLocationHouston, TX
