Payroll & Benefits Specialist (15-Month Contract)Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - up to 2 days onsite)Contract Length: 15 months (strong opportunity for extension or conversion)Rate: $70-$90/hourThe OpportunityWe are seeking an exceptional Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join a high-performing payroll team supporting a complex, advisor-driven organization. This role goes well beyond routine processing-you will own end-to-end, multi-provincial payroll and act as a trusted partner to HR and Finance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and an exceptional employee experience.This is a high-impact role ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in fast-paced, detail-driven environments and enjoys working through system integrations, complex compensation structures, and tight payroll deadlines.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll OperationsProcess end-to-end, multi-provincial payroll (including Quebec) for 900+ employees, covering salaried and commissioned populationsPrepare, review, and approve full-cycle payroll, including earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, bonuses, commission pay, garnishments, severance, and third-party paymentsEnsure payroll remittances, statutory deductions, and compliance requirements are met accurately and on timeCreate and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) through Service CanadaData Integrity & ReportingMaintain accuracy and integrity across payroll, benefits, retirement, and share purchase systemsPerform monthly and ad-hoc payroll reconciliationsSupport statutory and legislative reporting (e.g., WSIB, EHT, Statistics Canada)Assist with year-end activities including T4s, T2200s, and payroll reconciliationsRun reports, perform advanced Excel analysis, and support audits (internal and external)Benefits & Retirement AdministrationAdminister benefits and retirement plan enrollments, changes, and terminationsCoordinate data feeds between payroll and benefits providersSupport employees and managers with payroll and benefits inquiries using a high-touch, white-glove approachCollaboration & ProjectsPartner closely with HR and Finance on payroll-related initiativesSupport system integrations and payroll transformation projects (including Workday payroll integration)Document payroll processes, support audit readiness, and contribute to SOPs or training materialsProvide backup payroll coverage as requiredQualifications & Experience5-7 years of progressive payroll experienceStrong experience administering employee benefitsProven expertise in multi-provincial Canadian payroll, including QuebecExperience processing commission-based compensationCompletion of PCP designation (or in progress); equivalent payroll certification consideredAdvanced Excel skills, including reporting and reconciliationsExceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under tight timelinesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts clearlyDemonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretionAssetsExperience with Ceridian Dayforce (Workday payroll exposure is preferred)Experience in wealth management or financial services environmentsExperience supporting payroll through system implementations or M&A integrationsBilingualism (English/French) is a bonus but not requiredEmployee Value PropositionOwnership & Impact: Trusted to run and approve complex, end-to-end payroll-not just transactional processingTransformation Exposure: Hands-on involvement in a major payroll system integration over ~15 monthsVisibility & Trust: Acts as a key backup and final approver with exposure to HR, Finance, and leadershipSkill Growth: Deepen expertise in commissions, complex taxation, bonus accruals, and finance-level reportingFlexibility with Purpose: High-value work during critical payroll cycles without unnecessary overheadStrong Environment: Collaborative payroll team, modern downtown Toronto office, and hybrid flexibilityWork EnvironmentHybrid setup with onsite presence as needed (typically up to two days per week, especially during payroll runs)Fast-paced but team-supported environment with shared accountabilityHigh-trust culture with meaningful responsibility and autonomyModern, well-resourced office with onsite amenitiesJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Toronto, ON.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.Workplace TypeThis is a hybrid position in Toronto,ON. propos de TEKsystems et TEKsystems Global ServicesNous sommes un fournisseur de services aux entreprises et de technologies.
