This role serves as the single point of contact for Manufacturing during assigned coverage, ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of manufacturing, utility, and facility systems in a 24/7 GMP environment.This position provides direct leadership to weekend swing and night maintenance supervisors and technicians, with strong dotted-line oversight of Automation, Critical Systems, Refrigeration, Facilities/ISS, and other on-call engineering resources. Acting under delegated authority from site engineering leadership, the role is responsible for real-time issue resolution, escalation, and coordination in alignment with Takeda’s Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business (PTRB) principles.This role is critical to maintaining uninterrupted operations, protecting patient supply, and upholding Takeda’s standards for Safety, Quality, Compliance, and Reliability outside of standard business hours.How you will contributeServe as the primary Engineering and Maintenance leader on-site during weekends and holidaysAct as the single point of contact for Manufacturing on all engineering, maintenance, utilities, automation, and facility-related issuesLead and develop weekend maintenance supervisors and technicians, ensuring clear priorities and accountabilityCoordinate and direct cross-functional engineering resources through strong dotted-line leadershipLead real-time troubleshooting across equipment, automation systems, utilities, and infrastructure to minimize downtimeAssess safety, quality, compliance, and operational risk; make timely, GMP-aligned decisionsEscalate issues appropriately and engage SMEs or site leadership as neededEnsure systems are restored to a safe, stable, and fully operational condition before handoff to weekday teamsEnforce compliance with FDA, cGMP, EHS, GEP, and site proceduresServe as the escalation point for safety incidents, environmental events, and GMP concernsDrive urgency, accountability, and disciplined execution across weekend operationsEnsure effective shift handovers, documentation, and communication of risks and follow-upsCoordination & Communication:Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain to minimize operational impactProvide concise updates to site leadership on critical events, risks, and recovery actionsEnsure thorough documentation of issues, actions taken, and outstanding items for follow-upWhat you bring to TakedaBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical preferred); advanced degree (MBA/Master’s) a plus6+ years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or technical operations1+ year of leadership experience in a supervisory capacityProven leadership experience managing supervisors and technical teams in a manufacturing environmentAbility to lead cross-functional engineering teams through direct and dotted-line authorityStrong troubleshooting and decision-making skills in time-critical situationsWorking knowledge of maintenance, automation, utilities, and facility systemsSolid understanding of cGMP, EHS, and regulatory requirementsStrong communication and coordination skills across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and EHSProficiency in written and spoken EnglishPhysical & Work Environment:Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in both office and manufacturing environmentsFrequent presence in manufacturing, utility, and facility areasAbility to access electrical rooms, mezzanines, and confined spacesRequired use of PPE and adherence to gowning protocols in controlled environmentsMay work in cold, wet, or cleanroom environmentsMust be able to support shift work, weekends, and holidaysAdditional Requirements:Ability to respond to site emergencies outside normal business hoursParticipation in weekend/holiday on-call coverage as requiredLimited travel for training or business needsExperience leading supervisors and technical teams in a 24/7 or off-shift environmentExperience in FDA-regulated, cGMP manufacturing environmentsBackground in biopharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing preferredDemonstrated troubleshooting, incident response, or operational leadership experienceMore about usAt Takeda, we are transforming patient care through the development of novel specialty pharmaceuticals and best in class patient support programs. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives.
