Vascular Biology Research Assistant - Cell & Molecular Lab

The successful candidate will join a team of scientists investigating the mechanisms underlying vascular diseases including atherosclerosis and aneurysm. The position involves performing complex cellular and molecular biology experiments, as well as animal tissue preparation. Duties include cell culture, real-time PCR, flow cytometry, western blotting, histological studies, and accurate recording and analysis of results.ResponsibilitiesGene expression analysis by Western blot and qRT-PCR.Gel electrophoresis.Cell culture, gene silencing, and overexpression.Plasmid and adenovirus amplification.Histology analysis.Flow cytometry.Mouse microsurgery and collection of blood and tissue samples.Perform all other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, plus experience in a research or clinical setting.OR Associate's degree in the same fields with a minimum of three years of research or clinical experience.Preferred QualificationsSome previous experience with social/behavioral science (public health) research is desirable.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical-thinking skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.Shift / Salary / BenefitsShift: Days; Monday-Friday (work outside standard business hours may be required).Pay Band: B5.Salary: $17.88-$21.92 per hour, commensurate with qualifications within the established range.Conditions of EmploymentAll selected candidates must successfully pass a background check prior to starting.Credit check may be required for positions of trust or departmental purchase card usage.Motor-vehicle reports required for positions that involve driving an Augusta University vehicle.Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degrees and transcripts; foreign-trained candidates must provide credential evaluation.All employees must protect confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive information and comply with cybersecurity and privacy policies.Equal Employment OpportunityAugusta University is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer welcoming applicants from underrepresented groups, including individuals with disabilities and veterans.J-18808-Ljbffr
