Job Type: Contract Job Category: IT Job Title: Data Architect – Azure & Cosmos DB Location: Chicago, IL Contract Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Data Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services and Cosmos DB to design and implement scalable, high-performance, and secure data solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud-based data architecture, distributed databases, and data integration strategies. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement data architecture solutions using Azure services including Azure Cosmos DB, Data Lake, Synapse, and Azure SQL. Define data models and indexing strategies optimized for performance and scalability in Cosmos DB. Develop data pipelines and integration workflows using Azure Data Factory and related tools. Ensure data governance, security, and compliance best practices. Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and data engineers to deliver robust data-driven solutions. Perform performance tuning and capacity planning for Cosmos DB and other data services. Required Skills: 8+ years in data architecture roles with at least 3 years on Azure cloud platform. Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (SQL API, Mongo API, etc.). Strong knowledge of data modeling (NoSQL and relational), distributed systems, and data ingestion pipelines. Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data solutions. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
