Bookkeeper

Overview: Boutique Bethesda MD accounting firm has a new opportunity for a full -time Bookkeeper. This position is responsible for providing a wide range of accounting and administrative office support to meet the daily needs of its clients. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, has a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and treats customer service as a priority. Great opportunity to join a growing firm.Responsibilities:·        Process accounts payable transactions for multiple clients, including the coding of invoices, payment processing and reconciliation of the AP ledger.·        Prepare deposits for bank, record live checks and ACH payments received in accounts receivable ledgers, process billings and assist in the review and collection of past due invoices.·        Process payroll for multiple clients and prepare journal entries. Assist with any payroll tax notices and payroll filings and reports as requested.·        Assist with month end bank reconciliation and other balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.  Reviews general ledger monthly to ensure accuracy of posting.·        Prepare and modify spreadsheets for cash management, payroll, account reconciliations, workflow, and other accounting functions.·        Assist in the month end closing process. Gather and enter data to compile monthly financial statements, management reports, and any ad hoc reports as needed or assigned.·        Assist and coordinate internal firm’s workflow, update and document internal work process and develop work instructions for new processes; review and maintain all work instructions as needed.  ·        Assist with preparation of federal and state income tax filings.Skills / Requirements:Associates degree in accounting, or equivalent business experienceProven bookkeeping experience with a solid understanding of accounts payable and receivable Intermediate to high proficiency in Excel and QuickBooksWillingness to learn a variety of accounting and client industry software Receptive to change and instruction Team player with a positive attitude
