JOB TITLE: Information Technology SupportREPORTS TO: Network and Desktop Support ManagerFLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPTESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Install and upgrade workstations, loading all necessary softwareRelocate computer equipment as necessary, connecting and setting up hardwareMonitoring and maintaining technology for maximum accessInstalling and maintaining passwords and advising staff about any security breaches such as a change in passwordMonitoring security and ensuring that lock out programs are installedTroubleshoot all issues in a timely manner by prioritizing work orders make recommendations about purchase of resourcesEnsure hardware is stripped before disposalDiagnose and repair equipment, including printers, terminals, and personal computersService equipment according to established preventative maintenance scheduleMaintain an updated inventory of software, hardware and resourcesMaintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community membersUse effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearlyAttend trainings as required to stay current on IT developments and softwareAttend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as requiredMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred,or High school diploma or G.E.D. may be accepted combined with verifiable skills and abilities;Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripheralsCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)or A+: Certified Computer Technician preferredValid Texas driver’s licenseKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of computer workstation setupKnowledge of computer hardware and software applicationsAbility to install and maintain network cables and hardwareAbility to diagnose problems and perform repairsAbility to perform tasks and prioritize in high pressure environmentsExperience in hands-on hardware trouble shootingWorking technical knowledge of the latest operating systems, network protocols and standardsAbility to read all relevant documents, including OME guides, procedural documentation and technical manuals and understand them wellAbility to use peripheral accessories, components and other related toolsAbility to carry relevant researchAttention to detailA good understanding of the district’s objectivesGood interpersonal and relationship building skillsGood customer service orientationMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Ability to meet attendance requirements;Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively;Duties performed typically in school settings to include classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria; auditorium, and recreational areas;Spends a lot of time sitting, which may lead to muscle strain; they are also required to lift computer equipment, materials and suppliesMust be prepared for interruptions as they manage several projects simultaneously; they may work in noisy and busy environments, they will need time, stress and organizational management skills.Using computers for extended periods may lead to eyestrain and headaches and it may also be challenging to concentrate in a noisy and busy environmentOften deal with frustrated staff who require their service immediately, the work environment may be stressful
