We are also entertaining candidates who reside in the following states: Oregon, Arizona, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Georgia.Job PurposeTo provide assistance with Structural Engineering 8-koi. The Structural Engineer leads the structural design team on a variety of project types, leads teams, and directly interfaces with the client. Actively participates in the full project cycle, from the design phase through final construction close-out. In addition, this role assists in the management of the department and the office. 8-koi is a diverse Florida-based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients.Duties and ResponsibilitiesApplicant shall be able to work on multiple projects related to buildings and industrial structural systems design.Manage multiple structural design projects of various scale through Concept, Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documentation (CD) phases.Serve as the main point of contact for our clients, representing the team at project meetings.Lead condition assessments and structural investigations as needed.Organize in-house resources effectively.Train and mentor junior staff.Assist with marketing / proposal efforts and proposal presentations.Prepare project budgets and monitor compliance with time/schedule deadlines.Plan and obtain additional work authorizations as required for scope changes.Perform standard computations, analysis, and design.Observe construction activities for conformance with design documents.Conduct site surveys and inspections.Prepare and edit project documents and specifications.Perform research and structural investigations.Design complete projects and prepare full project documents.Assist upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.Participate in reviews of project documents for conformity and quality assurance.Serve as the technical specialist for the structural engineering team.Keep informed of new developments, codes, and requirements affecting the organization, recommending changes in programs or applications.Assist in the development of standards and guidelines.Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.Additional related tasks as issued by superiors.QualificationsMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.Minimum of 8-14 years of experience as a Structural Engineer designing for facilities.Experience as a project manager is preferred but not required.Experience with structural condition assessments, load calculations, and building system evaluations.Must possess effective communication skills – both verbal and written.Must be proficient in the use of Revit and AutoCAD (experience with structural analysis software such as RISA, ETABS, or STAAD is strongly preferred).Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.Structural Engineer shall hold a Professional Engineer (PE).Other certifications such as SE licensure or LEED AP are a plus.U.S. Citizen strongly preferred.Active membership and involvement in professional practice organizations.
