SANFORD SCHOOL DEPARTMENTSanford, MaineJob DescriptionEducational Technician III Early Childhood Special Education (Ages 3–4)Sanford Pride Elementary School - Educational Technician III, Early Childhood Special Education (Ages 3-4) Position SummaryThe Sanford School Department is seeking a dedicated Educational Technician III to support children ages 3–4 in its newly established early childhood special education program. Working under the direct supervision and/or collaboration with the Special Education Teacher, the Ed-Tech III will assist in implementing individualized instruction, supporting IEP goals, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for young learners.Sanford Pride is a PreK - Grade 4 school located in the heart of Sanford, Maine. In addition to district curriculum and programs, our school has a service dog program that serves all students and adults. Our community also has a greenhouse and an outdoor classroom. We believe these resources provide students with real-world opportunities such as being good stewards of their community.Essential ResponsibilitiesAssist the special education teacher in implementing IEP goals and individualized instructionProvide direct support to students in small group and one-on-one settingsSupport students in developing communication, social-emotional, self-care, and pre-academic skillsImplement behavior support strategies and use AAC/assistive technology as directedCollect and record student data on IEP goals, behaviors, and daily progressMaintain accurate records and assist in preparing instructional materialsParticipate in professional development, department meetings, and district trainingPerform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, principal or special education administratorReports To: Special Education Teacher / Building PrincipalRequired QualificationsValid Maine State Ed-Tech III certification, or ability to obtain prior to employmentEarly Childhood, Special Education, Human Services, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 3–5Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staffCommitment to maintaining student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policyWork SettingsInstruction and support may occur across multiple settings, including self-contained special education classrooms, inclusive general education classrooms, and community-based Early Learning Centers or childcare programs in the Sanford area. Travel between sites may be required. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.Physical RequirementsAbility to work on the floor, bend, kneel, and physically engage with young childrenAbility to lift up to 30 pounds and assist students with physical needs as required
