Self-Pay Collections Rep
Initiates collection activity on outstanding self-pay balances. Relevant categories include high dollar self-pay balances for both Hospital and Physician, payment plans, bankruptcy, Victim of Violent crime, estates, insurance information, financial counseling, settlements, and prompt pay discounts. Initiates telephone calls to patients/guarantors regarding resolution of their self-pay balances. Initiates telephone calls to insurance companies regarding resolution of self-pay balances. Communicates with hospital clinics/doctor offices regarding resolution of self-pay balances. Works assigned work queues within established protocols. Responds to patient/responsible party inquiries/requests received via telephone, mail and in person by accessing the billing system. Three years of relevant work experience, preferably in telephone collections. Thorough knowledge of third-party insurance and medical terminology. Computer skills. Ability to work independently within established functional guidelines and withstand pressure that may arise when dealing with the public, physicians/clinic and staff.
