Data Analytics Engineer

Job Summary Our client, a leading Energy & Utilities provider, is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to join their team! While the role carries an Analytics Engineer title, the primary focus is on dimensional data modeling and building the analytical foundation that supports enterprise reporting and analytics. This position is ideal for a hands-on data professional with strong experience in DBT, Snowflake, and star-schema design who enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to create scalable, analytics-ready data solutions. Core Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain star-schema data models, including fact and dimension tables Build and support DBT models, testing frameworks, and transformation pipelines Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL workloads within Snowflake Apply data modeling best practices, including dimensional design, normalization, and denormalization techniques Partner with Data Engineers, BI Developers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable analytical solutions Support data delivery from ingestion through transformation and into reporting and analytics layers Participate in design discussions, peer reviews, and knowledge-sharing initiatives Document data models, architectural decisions, and engineering standards Promote consistency in modeling practices and data governance across the organization Help improve and maintain the analytical platform as data volume and business demands continue to grow Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Strong hands-on experience with DBT development and testing Extensive experience with Snowflake and SQL performance optimization Proven expertise designing and implementing star-schema dimensional models Deep understanding of fact and dimension modeling concepts Experience supporting enterprise data warehousing and analytics environments Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Self-starter mindset with the ability to learn independently through technical documentation and knowledge bases Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) Azure cloud experience Azure Data Factory (ADF) Python development experience API integration experience Power BI Semantic Models Power Query SnowPro certification DP-203 certification Experience working in modern data platforms utilizing GitHub and contemporary cloud technologies Experience contributing to data architecture and modeling standards Key Competencies & Behaviors Strong data modeling and analytical thinking capabilities Curious and continuous learner Self-motivated and highly independent Collaborative team player who enjoys knowledge sharing Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality Ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives Comfortable working in evolving environments and organizational changes Solution-oriented mindset with strong troubleshooting abilities Passion for best practices in data modeling and analytics engineering Work Environment Contract position supporting a growing and stable enterprise analytics platform Opportunity to work with modern technologies including Snowflake, DBT, Azure, and GitHub One-and-done onsite interview process Hiring manager is focused on finding the right long-term fit rather than filling the role quickly Collaborative environment that encourages learning, self-service, and continuous development Candidates should be comfortable working independently while partnering across technical and business teams Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $38.00 and $55.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
