This is a hands-on operational HR role responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle including recruiting, onboarding, employee documentation, HR compliance, and HR administrative operations. The HR Generalist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate employee records, compliant hiring practices, and consistent HR processes while supporting managers and employees in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesRecruiting & HiringManage full-cycle recruiting for recovery housing and operational staff rolesScreen resumes, conduct HR interviews, and coordinate hiring steps with hiring managersPost and manage job listings across recruitment platformsMaintain applicant tracking systems and candidate documentationEnsure hiring processes comply with California employment law and federal hiring regulationsOnboarding & HR AdministrationCoordinate new hire onboarding, including completion of I-9 verification, required notices, and employee acknowledgmentsMaintain accurate employee files and HR documentation in compliance with regulatory requirementsManage onboarding checklists, background checks, and credential documentationTrack employee training, certifications, and required compliance recordsHR ComplianceSupport compliance with California labor laws, including wage and hour requirements, paid sick leave, and mandated workplace postingsMaintain documentation required for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviewsTrack delivery and acknowledgment of required employee notices and HR policiesEnsure proper documentation related to employee classifications and employment recordsEmployee Relations & Corrective ActionServe as a primary HR contact for employee questions related to benefits, PTO, leave of absence procedures, and HR policiesSupport managers in documenting performance management and corrective action processesAssist with preparing investigation and disciplinary documentation when requiredMaintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee mattersPolicies, Procedures & Office SupportAssist with development and updates of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook materialsSupport day-to-day HR administrative operations and documentation managementMaintain HR systems, portals, and document management platformsProvide general administrative support to the HR and leadership teams as neededQualificationsRequired5+ years of relevant HR experience (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred)Strong full-cycle recruiting and candidate screening experienceWorking knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance requirementsExceptional attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong written and verbal communication abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentPreferredExperience in recovery housing, healthcare, behavioral health, or human services environmentsExperience supporting hourly staff or residential workforce teamsFamiliarity with HRIS platforms and applicant tracking systemsProfessional HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or CalCHRPKey AttributesSuccessful Candidates Will DemonstrateStrong organizational discipline and attention to detailComfort operating in administrative and process-driven environmentsHigh levels of professional discretion and confidentialityAbility to multi-task and prioritize competing deadlinesA people-centered mindset with empathy and professionalismCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary (Target Range: $85,000 – $115,000)Health, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidaysOpportunities for professional growth and developmentWork EnvironmentThis position operates in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare and housing services environment supporting staff who work directly with vulnerable populations.
