Metallurgical Lab Technician

Location: Urbana, OH, 43078Summary: In this key role, the Metallurgical Lab Technician will work in the lab, performing a variety of tests and evaluation activities.Specific responsibilities include:Prepare metallurgical samples in the lab, evaluate them, and document results.Work in parallel with other engineers in the field to learn and apply nondestructive testing, metallurgy, and applicable codes and standards.Assist the Lab Manager in various lab activities.Work with quality control technicians and document technical reports for clients.Using metallurgical data, analyzing statistical data, and conducting failure analysis to identify trends and patterns in production.The ideal candidate will have/be: Currently enrolled in an engineering program. Materials Science or Mechanical-based program preferred, G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.Experience using microscopes, SEM, EDS, and other lab and machine shop tools.Knowledge of nondestructive testing techniques is preferred.Critical thinking and data-driven problem-solving in an analytical, organized fashion.Must possess excellent oral and verbal communication skills.This person must be self-motivated, well-organized, and highly dependable with a strong work ethic.Ultra-met is an equal opportunity employer.
