Job Description City Construction & Infrastructure CoordinatorOrganization: City of Franklin, OhioReports To: City EngineerCompensation & Benefits: $64,480 - $100,457 + 10% Pension Pick-Up. + competitive benefits package including health, dental, optical and life insurance, and generous paid time off. Take home pay with pension pick-up to $110,503 annually!Position OverviewUnder the direction of the City Engineer, this role provides high-level technical support and field coordination for municipal construction and building projects. You will act as the City’s eyes and ears on-site, ensuring that public infrastructure—ranging from streets and sewers to traffic devices—is built to code, on schedule, and with the highest quality materials.Essential FunctionsInfrastructure Oversight: Monitor the construction of streets, sidewalks, storm/sanitary sewers, water distribution, traffic signals, and bridges.Field Inspections: Conduct rigorous field inspections to ensure compliance with City standards, regulations, and blueprints.Utility Coordination: Serve as the primary City liaison for utility relocations, replacements, and conflict resolution within the public right-of-way.Project Administration: Review contractor pay applications, confirm material quantities, and maintain detailed logs and records of all construction activities.Public Liaison: Act as a customer service bridge between contractors and property owners to minimize disruption to local residents and businesses.Technical Planning: Assist in mapping water/sewer systems and provide technical input for future infrastructure planning.Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & ExperienceEducation: Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).Experience: 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in public works or civil infrastructure construction; municipal experience is highly preferred.Licensure: Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.Certifications: Ability to obtain professional certifications in construction inspection, materials testing, or construction safety (e.g., through state or national industry associations).Core CompetenciesTechnical Knowledge: Mastery of state/local zoning codes, structural design principles, and municipal construction methods for roadways and water systems.Mathematical Proficiency: Advanced math skills for developing project budgets, cost estimates, and material take-offs.Analytical Reasoning: Ability to work independently in the field, interpret complex blueprints, and resolve construction conflicts without direct oversight.Communication: Tactful ability to resolve complaints from the public and coordinate effectively with contractors, developers, and civic leaders.Physical Demands & Working EnvironmentField Conditions: Work involves climbing, crawling, and exposure to adverse weather, hazardous gases, and noisy construction environments (>85dB).Physical Agility: Ability to walk over uneven terrain (including sites without stairs/ramps) and lift up to 50 lbs. of operational equipment.Visual/Technical: Sufficient close and distance vision for plan review and sustained computer use for data input and financial record keeping.Compensation & Benefits: $64,480 - $100,457 + 10% Pension Pick-Up. + competitive benefits package including health, dental, optical and life insurance, and generous paid time off.
