The role is highly hands‑on, balancing immediate operational needs - such as investigations, compliance questions, and performance issues - with longer‑term initiatives related to talent development, engagement, and risk mitigation.A successful candidate brings 7+ years of HR management experience in premium retail or a closely related hospitality environment, with deep, hands‑on knowledge of California employment law and exposure to multi‑state operations. They are highly compliance‑driven, with strong experience in employee relations, timekeeping, workers' compensation, union environments, and leading complex investigations end‑to‑end in partnership with Legal. Union experience is highly desirable.This position is THREE DAYS A WEEK ON-SITE in San Leandro, CA with 20% travel to stores across the U.S.Job DescriptionServe as the primary HR partner to retail leaders, providing hands‑on guidance on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and workplace concerns.Lead complex employee investigations end‑to‑end, partnering directly with Legal and ensuring fair, timely, and compliant resolution.Ensure strict adherence to California employment laws and support multi‑state compliance, including wage and hour, timekeeping, meal and rest periods, and related labor requirements.Advise leaders in union-impacted environments, supporting grievance administration, contract interpretation, and issue prevention in alignment with labor regulations. Oversee workers' compensation matters in partnership with safety and operations team.
