This position involves working on energized and de-energized lines, poles, and related equipment in a variety of weather and environmental conditions. The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for ensuring safe and reliable electric service to our members and must consistently adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards.Primary ResponsibilitiesConstruct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution lines in accordance with RUS standards, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), OSHA regulations, and company policies.Perform hot line work on energized primary and secondary voltage systems.Climb poles, operate aerial lift equipment, and handle equipment for the installation, removal, and repair of electrical facilities.Accurately interpret and execute system maps, staking sheets, work orders, and switching instructions.Complete all required documentation, including job briefings, time tickets, work order packets, and safety reports.Participate in tailgate safety meetings and promote a culture of safety through daily work habits.Support the cooperative's service crews, performing meter reads, service disconnects/reconnects, and responding to member inquiries in the field.Operate and maintain line trucks, diggers, trenchers, bucket trucks, forklifts, and other associated tools and equipment.Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE) in clean and safe working condition.Provide on-the-job guidance and training to apprentice linemen and less experienced crew members.Serve in the on-call rotation for after-hours outages, emergencies, and service restoration efforts.Respond promptly and effectively to service calls, storm damage, and system outages as required.Do you have what we are looking for?RequiredHigh school diploma, or equivalent.Valid Indiana Class A Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL)Completion of an approved line apprenticeship program with on-the-job training hours. Minimum of three years as a Journeyman Lineman in electric utility distribution operations, including distribution system construction and maintenance.Preferred Candidates Will Have The FollowingAssociates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical schoolCompletion of the HEATS apprenticeship program, or equivalentMinimum of 3 years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman in utility distribution operations, including system construction and maintenance. Valid Indiana Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requiredAbility to read, understand, and follow technical documents including staking sheets, safety codes, and equipment specifications.Working knowledge of electric distribution system operations, construction standards, safety practices, and electrical theory.Proficient in basic computer applications and the ability to learn company-specific systems including outage management and mapping software.Must reside within 30 minutes of JCREMC headquarters in Franklin, Indiana.What's In it for you!This position is a bargaining unit classification and pay is based on the collective bargaining agreement.
