RN Stepdown

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in a Stepdown unit. This role offers an opportunity to provide advanced patient care in a fast-paced environment, utilizing a broad range of nursing skills and clinical expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience with critical care, hospital medicine, and complex patient assessments, ensuring optimal recovery and safety for our patients. Position: RN -Stepdown Shift: Day 3x12 (36hrs/week) Facility: Memorial Hospital of South Bend Location: South Bend, IN Payrate: $2150/week Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension Experience Required: 2 years experience Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations. Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and medication protocols. Manage airway support, ventilator settings, IV infusions, catheterization, and aseptic techniques for infection control. Perform invasive procedures such as suturing, tube feeding management, spinal taps, and ostomy care. Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient transitions across care settings. Document all patient interactions thoroughly using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner while maintaining medical records in compliance with healthcare standards. Monitor patients’ progress through diagnostic evaluations, laboratory testing (including specimen collection/processing), and vital signs tracking. Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal patients in the NICU or PICU, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia. Participate in infection control practices and adhere to OSHA standards to maintain a sterile environment. Engage in ongoing education related to trauma medicine, infectious disease care, pain management, hospice & palliative medicine, and other specialty areas as needed.
