Process EngineerLocation: Brazil, IN The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 per year. We encourage strong technical candidates to apply without OverviewVALiNTRY is seeking a Jr. Process Engineer to help optimize, troubleshoot, and improve manufacturing operations within a chemical production environment. This position will focus on improving process efficiency, increasing throughput, maintaining product quality, supporting safe plant operations, and leading continuous improvement ideal candidate has one to four years of engineering experience and a strong foundation in chemical manufacturing, process optimization, and plant safety.Key ResponsibilitiesLead process improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce waste, improve yield, and enhance operational efficiency.Analyze chemical manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, process variability, and opportunities for and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, and operating parameters.Support daily plant operations by providing technical guidance to production teams and troubleshooting process issues in real time.Conduct root cause analyses involving process deviations, equipment failures, safety incidents, and product quality concerns.Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.Support continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.Monitor key process metrics, develop dashboards, and recommend adjustments to maintain stable and efficient compliance with OSHA, EPA, process safety, environmental, and internal company standards.Collaborate with maintenance, quality, research and development, production, and environmental health and safety teams.Support new product introductions, equipment installations, and process changes.Participate in hazard analyses, Management of Change reviews, and Pre Startup Safety Reviews.Evaluate new technologies, equipment upgrades, and automation solutions that improve plant capabilities.Assist with project planning, cost control, vendor coordination, and contractor management.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.Candidates with a Mechanical Engineering degree must have relevant chemical industry experience.One to four years of engineering experience in chemical manufacturing or a related industrial environment.Experience with batch processing, continuous processing, or other chemical production analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.Experience using process data to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.Familiarity with process safety management, hazard analysis, risk assessment, Management of Change, and Pre Startup Safety Review practices.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively with production employees, technical teams, vendors, contractors, and plant leadership.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Lean, Six Sigma, or another continuous improvement methodology.Familiarity with process modeling, statistical analysis, or data visualization tools.Experience supporting equipment upgrades, automation projects, or new product introductions.Exposure to project budgeting, cost control, or vendor management.Key CompetenciesSound technical engineering judgmentProject leadershipRoot cause analysisRisk managementBudget and cost awarenessVendor and contractor coordinationContinuous improvement mindsetStrong commitment to workplace safety
