Teacher/Coach, DAEP
Primary Purpose:Supervise students assigned to DAEP for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal. Coordinate retrieving and returning students' work from teachers at the middle school and high school.Coaching duties are to be determined and may include a combination of middle and high school sports. Possible coaching assignments include: Head Boys Basketball, Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, Assistant Football, Assistant Track.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's Degree requiredValid Texas teaching certificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work well with childrenAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelySpanish preferredExperience:Minimum of one year of student teaching or an approved internshipMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional SupportWork with certified teachers and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environmentWork with individual students to complete assignments given by the classroom teacher.Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.Retrieve student assignments from the appropriate campus.Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.Student ManagementManage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).Record student attendance and discipline referrals according to established procedures.OtherMaintain confidentiality.Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events when required.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Coaching Responsibilities:Lead, organize, and coach teams as assigned.Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and student-athlete growth on and off the field.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and classroom equipment, including personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipmentPosture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stoopingMotion: Moderate walking; Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noiseMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
