The person in this role supervises the administration processes required to import and export merchandise and materials in compliance with federal, state, local, or local country specific- regulations. This role reviews all required documentation and supporting calculations of duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and or volume of products. She/he verifies all payment transactions are completed according to requirements. Ensures that all documentation is up to date and recorded in tracking systems. Resolves issues and expedites solutions with clients, customs officials, and shippers and lastly contributes to the development of processes and procedures.Location: Long Beach, CAKey ResponsibilitiesSupervise operations staff and keep employees compliant with company policies and proceduresManage, develop and train staff, establish and monitor goals, and conduct performance reviewsAssume ownership over team productivity and manage workflow to meet or exceed quality service goalsPrepare and submit Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) codes to US CustomsPrepare shipping documentation, maintaining compliance with US Customs and international regulationsResponsible for proper processing of import/export shipments and designing import/export strategies to meet project delivery requirements.Assist in identifying and improving service and operations related issues in a station, including on-time delivery, accurate and timely data entry, and efficient warehouse operationsAssist in auditing and researching service performance issues and develop recommendations for improvementsMaintain the security of freight in accordance with security proceduresEnsure a safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and proceduresConsult with suppliers and agents to arrange proper in-transit permissions to ship to various locationsQualifications, Experience and SkillsGraduate in any fieldAt least 5 years of relevant and recent experience in Freight Forwarding Operations and Customer ServicePrevious supervisor experience requiredFreight Forwarding experience is mandatoryPlease note: This position does not offer sponsorship for employment visas. This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.
