Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Outstanding growth opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with experience designing medium voltage equipment and products. This senior-level role leads the design and development of metering and switchgear equipment for the utility sector with high visibility across the organization and customers.The Senior Electrical Engineer owns electrical design decisions, guides products from concept through release, and supports custom solutions while advancing product capability and differentiation.Responsibilities include:Lead electrical design for medium voltage products ranging from 5kV to 35kV, including component selection and system architecture.Develop custom engineering solutions by interpreting utility specifications and producing BOMs, three line diagrams, and control schematics.Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, UL, and applicable utility standards.Design and specify protection and control schemes using relays, CTs, PTs, and sensing devices.Partner with mechanical engineering to ensure proper clearances, thermal performance, and safety in compact pad mount enclosures.Oversee prototype builds and define component and system level testing, including dielectric and partial discharge testing.Act as a senior technical resource for sales and customers, supporting troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning.Engage directly with customers through VOC calls and site visits to identify product gaps and innovation opportunities.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree/certification or PE license a plus.4+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, including medium-voltage (MV) products and systems. Experience in utilities, switchgear manufacturing, or power distribution strongly preferred.Strong knowledge of medium voltage power distribution, arc interruption, and insulation coordination.Hands on experience with CTs, PTs, load break switches, MV bushings, insulation systems, switchgear, and reclosers preferred.Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or similar) and ERP systems required.Experience with power system analysis tools; exposure to ANSYS Electrical, PCB design, or control and communication systems; and/or familiarity with utility revenue metering requirements a plus.Initiative to take ownership of complex technical problems and effectively manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication skills with engineers, customers, and commercial teams and ability to translate real world customer needs into practical, engineered solutions.
