Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Job DescriptionWorthington Enterprises is seeking an Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join our team! This role is responsible for leading all plant engineering, maintenance, and reliability activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, capital projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical support for production while developing a strong, safety-focused maintenance and engineering team.Relocation assistance will be considered for the right candidate.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & ReliabilityLead and manage plant maintenance operations, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programsEnsure equipment uptime, reliability, and performance to support production goalsAnalyze downtime and failure data to drive root cause analysis and long-term solutionsDevelop and manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationshipsPlan and schedule plant shutdowns in partnership with internal teams and external contractors Engineering & Capital ProjectsPlan and execute capital improvement projects from concept through commissioningProvide engineering support for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new installationsEnsure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standardsSupport layout changes, automation initiatives, and energy efficiency projectsLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians, engineers, and supervisorsEstablish clear performance expectations and promote accountabilityFoster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamworkCoordinate training to enhance technical skills and equipment knowledgeSafety, Quality, & ComplianceChampion plant safety and quality programs and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirementsParticipate in incident investigations and corrective action planningEnsure all maintenance and engineering activities follow current safety standards and codesContinuous ImprovementDrive lean manufacturing through the Worthington Business System, TPM, and reliability-centered maintenance initiativesPartner with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to improve plant performanceTrack and report KPIs such as uptime, MTBF, maintenance costs, and capital project performanceDesired ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Related Field required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered5+ years of experience in engineering and/or maintenance leadership in a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of industrial equipment, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, trouble shooting skills, and automationThorough understanding of safety programs and complianceProven experience managing engineering/maintenance teams and execution of capital projectsProven experience in budget management and cost savings initiativesStrong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skillsLean, TPM, or Six Sigma experienceCMMS experience and data-driven maintenance planningProfessional Engineering (PE) license or reliability certification (CMRP) About UsOur Company is proud to have a dynamic and inclusive workforce where employees are empowered to innovate, thrive and grow.
