Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician

PRIMARY PURPOSEThe Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting production efficiency. Here at Grip-Tite we realize that our greatest assets are our employees, and we are committed to developing and promoting our talented and dedicated team members to support our future leadership needs.Grip-Tite is over 100 years young, and we are proud to say that all our products are made with American steel right here in the USA.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team CoordinationLead, mentor, and support maintenance technicians in daily activitiesAssign and prioritize work orders to meet production and maintenance needsServe as acting point person in the absence of the Maintenance SupervisorPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvementMaintenance & TroubleshootingPerform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems)Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actionsSupport preventive and predictive maintenance programsOperational ExcellenceDrive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtimeUtilize lean manufacturing and maintenance best practices (e.g., TPM, 5S)Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costsPreventive Maintenance & SystemsEnsure timely completion of preventive maintenance (PM) schedulesMaintain accurate maintenance records in CMMS or other systemsAnalyze maintenance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvementCollaboration & CommunicationPartner with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment issuesCommunicate maintenance priorities, downtime, and improvement initiativesSupport new equipment installations and process improvementsSafety & ComplianceEnforce all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and OSHA standardsEnsure safe work practices are followed by all team membersMaintain a clean and organized maintenance areaRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED (technical degree or certification preferred)5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systemsProven leadership or lead experienceExperience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systemsAbility to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manualsAbility to lift up to 55 lbs., on a regular basis and work in a physically demanding environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience in steel or heavy manufacturing environmentsPLC troubleshooting experienceCertification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or related fieldExperience with lean manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement initiativesKey CompetenciesStrong leadership and team development skillsAdvanced problem-solving and troubleshooting abilityOperational excellence mindsetEffective communication and collaborationTime management and prioritizationSafety-focused mindsetWork EnvironmentIndustrial manufacturing facilityExposure to noise, heat, moving machinery, and heavy equipmentRequired use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe bootsPerformance ExpectationsReduce equipment downtime and improve overall equipment reliabilityEnsure completion of preventive maintenance schedulesImprove maintenance response time and efficiencySupport production goals through effective maintenance practicesLead and develop maintenance team performanceMaintain a safe and compliant work environmentCOMPENSATION:· Competitive Hourly Pay - based on experience and shift.· Overtime will be required.PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING:External hiring into this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen as well as a background check.Grip-Tite Manufacturing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Grip-Tite Manufacturing is an equal opportunity employer.
