Senior Java Software Engineer

Aureon Consulting is actively interviewing candidates on behalf of one of our favorite clients for a Senior Java Engineering opportunity. This role focuses on building and supporting scalable Java based microservices and REST APIs that power enterprise insurance platforms.You will design and maintain domain driven APIs and persistence layers supporting complex data models and high-volume transactional systems. As a senior contributor, you will lead technical initiatives across teams, helping shape engineering standards, best practices, and solution patterns.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and build scalable REST APIs and backend servicesOwn services end to end, from development through production supportProvide technical leadership on cross team initiativesCollaborate with product, business, and engineering partnersEstablish patterns for reliability, performance, security, and observabilityTechnical ExpertiseBackend & APIsJava with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring SecurityREST API design with OpenAPI/Swagger, pagination, and error handlingCloud, Containers & DevOpsKubernetes experience, AKS preferredAzure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD promotion across DEV to PRODHelm, auto scaling, and production container operationsSecurity & IntegrationAzure API Management (APIM)OAuth 2.0, JWT, OktaSecrets management and secure API patternsData & ReliabilitySnowflake or strong SQL backgroundPerformance tuning, caching, resilience patterns, and observabilityQualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred8+ years of professional Java development experienceStrong communication, problem solving, and multitasking skillsInsurance domain experience preferred, particularly within policy-oriented or regulated financial systems
